If you’re not on your toes, you might miss Art Glut. It opened Friday and closes after today. But don’t miss it if you can possibly get there. (Roberta did this as an editor’s pick for the Weekly).

The sculpture in this show rocks; and the people organizing it come out of UArts’ sculpture department. There’s also some terrific 2-D stuff. And I loved the mix of DIY and not-so-DIY. Anyway, if you can rearrange your schedule and get down there today, that would be a good thing to do.

The exhibit, at My House Gallery in the first floor of Alex Gartelmann’s South Philadelphia row house, includes about 50 artists. I asked Alex how he got all these terrific people, mostly unfamiliar names to me plus a few I did know, and he said he started with all the people he knew and asked them to reach out to the people they know.

It’s at 2534 S. 8th Street (between Shunk and Porter, take the last exit before the Walt Whitman Bridge and turn a double left to get onto Seventh Street going north). I’d give Alex a call if you want to go–just to make sure he’s there. Here’s how to reach him: 908.370.1656, artcontextphila@gmail.com
