Back in December, before the holidays, we participated in a workshop with a number of other Creative Connectors. Much to our surprise, we were asked to play Santa. The leaders of the Connectors effort, Liz Dow and the Leadership Philadelphia crew, came to the meeting loaded with cash — envelopes with $50 in each — that was given to us so that we could “pay it forward.” What a lovely, crazy idea, we thought. People donated to churches or to needy folks or organizations helping the needy. We gave our money to folks in the arts sector, something in keeping with our mission to help artists.
