Artblog feeding frenzy

Artblog pal and contributor Mark Barry emailed to tell us we should be on Gallery Driver‘s art blog aggregator page.

The blog aggregator — which is free to read and free for blogs to list with — operates like an online syndication posting stories from its selected sources in rapid fire order as they get published. The stories are linked to the blog pages so you can read the whole story if you want, or just keep track of what’s being written about by everybody and their sister. It’s jumpy but democratic and made possible through the magic of XML software which luckily for us, Blogger provides. So as of yesterday, Artblog is swimming with the other art blog fishes — Modern Kicks, Thinking about art, anaba, Iconoduel, Ionarts, Newsgrist, James Wagner, Fresh Paint and lots more — on the GD aggregator. And we’re thrilled.

Perry Woodin of Gallery Driver linked us up. Your blog — should you have one and be interested in this service — has to apply to be included. There’s information on the aggregator page on how to do it.

GD is a relatively new company. In addition to the blog aggregator they host galleries and offer their own web software for updating gallery websites. The promo material says the package works with an existing website and makes updating it as easy as typing (presumably that means you don’t need to know Dreamweaver, HTML, javascript or other web software program). Call Woodin directly for more info. 646.827.8742.

BTW, Jonathan Levine of Tin Man Alley (formerly on 2nd St. in Philly) has a gallery page for his new New York operation and there are individual pages promoting the artists he shows.
