Back in 1976, Steve and I took a trip from Madison WI where we were living to New York and saw the King Tut exhibit at the Met. It was so much gold to me. But I came home inspired to make this little cartoon about Tut the tourist in New York (see his Michelin Guide?). This is an offset print of the original cartoon which doesn’t exist anymore. The cartoon was featured with 11 other caricatures in a calendar I mass-printed and tried to sell. Mostly I gave the calendar away to friends and family who were wildly enthusiastic. Now, with Tut out traveling again (he’s in Philly at the Franklin Institute until September 30), I thought I’d pull this old thing out just for chuckles and subject you to it.
