Two of Projects Gallery’s artists, Henry Bermudez and Steve Cope, were amongst the 40 artists selected to be included in The Open Studios Press “New American Paintings”. Stephen Bennett Phillips, curator of the Phillips Collection mentioned both artists in the curator’s introduction.
If you know of any other Philadelphia artists included in this edition, or if you have a web page with the info about who’s in this particular edition, please add it below in the comments.
Super local
San Miguel Church, by Ed Bronstein, was painted ‘en plein air” in San Miguel (Mexico) in 2004.
My friend Ed Bronstein got some recognition for this as Best Landscape at the Philadelphia Sketch Club’s 144th Annual Exhibition of Small Oils.
Frank Hyder on a roll
Another Philadelphia and Projects Gallery artist, Frank Hyder, has a solo show up right now in New York. “If the Oceans Don’t Make It, How Will We?” is at Walter Wickiser Gallery in Chelsea until April 25. Hyder has another solo show, Lost World, here in Philadelphia at La Salle University, a multi-media installation, April 13-June 15.
And finally, Projects will be traveling to Chicago to participate in the Bridge Art Fair as part of the Artropolis being staged by Art Chicago. The fairs run April 26 to 30. I am mentioning this because Projects is a repeat customer at the Chicago art fairs, and I figure some other Philly gallery might like to take note.
