Last summer I wrote an article about Philadelphia’s art scene for Art Review magazine. It had pages and pages of fantastic images by Noah Shelley of our town’s art scene leaders. Here’s the pictures…and if you look at them big enough you can read the text, too.
Of course I painted Philly’s art scene as the best thing this side of the Atlantic…because it is, dammit! In case you missed it here’s the link to the pdf version to download. Here.
So I’m a known cheerleader, so ok. And this summer I wrote a modified version of “the cheer” for Art & Auction magazine, the July, 2007, issue. Here’s the pdf version. I just scanned the article which was less of a written piece than a fill in the blank to 20 questions about Philadelphia but it covered many of the same points as the Art Review piece.
And the message is: Philadelphia is NOT a backwater of conservatism. It’s happening. And it’s great!
