At a time when street photography has never been hotter, the exhibit Philadelphia Stories: The Building of a Great American City at the Art Institute couldn’t be more perfect.
It’s a show that’s a collaboration between the city’s Department of Records, PhillyHistory.org, the Art Institute of Philadelphia and the Philadelphia Inquirer, and there are several great back stories on how the show came together. I’ll try to sketch that out in another post. I just want to give a heads up on this great show since the gallery’s open this weekend and the show’s only up through the month.
Gallery hours: Monday-Thursday 9am-7pm, Friday 9am-5pm, Saturday 9am-4pm.
I have photos of the opening (which was yesterday) at flickr along with four other images from the official archive. Of course you can see the whole archive at PhillyHistory.org.
