Great Randy Kennedy story in the NY Times about the discovery of a trove of 140 drawings by outsider artist Martin Ramirez. The drawings which had been in boxes in the garage of one of Ramirez’s doctors for many years, were discovered by the American Folk Art Museum when family members emailed the museum and told them of their cache. (The AFAM organized a Ramirez show–which is traveling and now at the Milwaukee Art Museum). The family will give three drawings to the museum, and will sell the rest, and some of the proceeds are intended to go to Ramirez’s family which has never seen any money from their now famous member’s drawings.
