About a month ago we got an email from John Tallman, a wonderful artist and former Philadelphian now living and working in Chatanooga, TN. (Here’s a post of a studio visit I did with John in 2006.)
John runs a great picture blog Color Chunks and he is starting a new project, Artists on Words, a series of blog posts from artists who pick a word that fits them (from a list of words John came up with) and write about their relationship to the word. Libby and I of course wrote up a little ditty which will be appearing some day. Right now you can read posts by Kevin Finklea, Joanne Mattera and Adam Trowbridge.
Here’s what John says about the response he’s getting from artists he invited to participate:
What’s been interesting so far is the way different people have responded to the project, perhaps in some sense, reflecting an individual’s relationship with written language and how they communicate. Some people are intuitive and spontaneous and others are more contemplative and deliberate. Some have responded quickly and others have taken more time. Over the next few weeks I will post the responses in no particular order.
