Several Philly street artists are featured in episode 14 of Streetosphere, the French production that chronicles street art everywhere. NoseGo, Ishknits and Justin Tyner (who brought this to our collective attentions) are the artists documented. One moment that we hopefully haven’t forgotten, Ishknits’ infamous yarn-bomb bikini for Frank Rizzo, is included in the piece.
Nicole Krom gets a major congrats this week on her new position at Longwood Gardens! As their new Assistant Membership Manager, Nicole’s more than prepared. She’s headed up Fleisher Art Memorial’s first Visitors Services Department since it began in 2008. You’ll be missed, Nicole – come back to visit sometime!

The ladies of Art Star Boutique are looking for part-time seasonal help in the shop, beginning mid-November through New Years. Interested applicants must be able to work Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and some Mondays from 11-7pm and additional days/hours when needed. The duties include opening/closing the shop, handling all sales, greeting and helping customers; experience in arts and crafts is required, as is retail sales experience and a friendly, helpful personality. The pay is $10 an hour; to apply, please drop off a cover letter, resume, and 3 professional references to the shop during store hours.
It’s Capricious Magazine’s tenth anniversary, and to celebrate they are publishing a book of horse photography in honor of founder Sophie Mörner’s love for horses, a symbol for the publication’s spirit. They’re accepting a maximum of 12 horse photographs per submission in all formats and all colors. Email your submission to submit@capriciousmagazine.com with the subject line “Capricious Horse Submission”; images should be approximately 8×10 inches @ 72 dpi). Although not all submissions are guaranteed a spot in the upcoming issue, Capricious may hold onto all submissions for future issues. When submitting, make sure to have model (or any other legally necessary) releases for all submitted work. Capricious has the right to use published material in promotional matters. The deadline is February 1, 2014.

Two exhibitions of work by Alexis Granwell, Ghost Stories at Giampietro Gallery in New Haven, CT and Traces of Remains at Towson University’s Holtzman Gallery, are soon t0 be closed, so make these destinations if you’re close by. Ghost Stories, a dual show with Clint Jukkala, runs October 11 – November 2, 2013; Traces of Remains runs September 12 – November 11, 2013. In the way of coverage, Alex Ebstein of Nudashank reviewed Traces of Remains for Bmoreart.
The opening of Diane Burko’s show Glacial Perspective comes with a special artist’s talk on November 6, at 6 pm, at the Zimmerli Art Museum at Rutgers University. The exhibition is accompanied by a lecture called Freeze Frame: Art and the Cryosphere, detailing Diane’s various travels through the Arctic and Antarctic.
