From the African American Museum in Philadelphia, an invitation to a Memorial for A.M. Weaver
Dear Friends,
The AAMP family mourns the passing of A.M. Weaver, our dear friend and the
guest curator of our current exhibition Gardens of the Mind: Echoes of the
Feminine View.
A.M. was the heart and soul of our Gardens team. The five artists, designers,
preparators, all of the staff who came in contact with her were affected by her zest
for life and her enthusiasm for the project. Throughout the fall and winter, visitors
have found themselves delighted, engaged and enriched by the vision A. M.
crafted here at AAMP. We are honored to have worked with her. A.M.’s spirit and
grace are part of the very fabric of the black art community here in Philadelphia
and beyond. She will be greatly missed, but her legacy will remain.
The AAMP Board and staff share their heartfelt condolences with A.M.’s family.
For those who would like to spend a moment in the Gallery with Gardens of the
Mind, the exhibition will be open on Tuesday from 10am – 12pm. AAMP
welcomes anyone who would like to come and spend time in the exhibition to
pause, reflect, and remember. Gallery admission will be waived during that time.
Sincerely,Dejáy B. Duckett
