Cecily Sherman, 84, is a self-confessed “art addict.” Together with her late husband Philip, she’s amassed a large collection that ranges from early 20th Century works by Arthur Carles, Kathe Kollwitz, George Bellows and Georges Roualt to contemporary big names like Roxy Paine, Anish Kapoor, Winston Roth and Phil Sims. She also collects Philadelphia art by Kevin Strickland, Astrid Bowlby, Anthony Campuzano, Tristin Lowe and others. She loves each and every piece — and lives with it all in her home. The idea for collecting began when, as a child, Cecily watched her older cousin paint. He was an accomplished painter and friend of Albert Barnes. This experience sparked her interest in art and her desire to own works. At the inaugural Philadelphia Fine Art Fair, Cecily will be honored as 2019 Art Collector of the Year.
