Dialog and Transcription

A 7 panel comic from the Socialist Grocery series by Oli Knowles where Sebastian has an awkward conversation with a customer about eggs and conspiracy theories.

In the top left panel, Sebastian is helping a customer buy eggs at checkout. Sebastian’s hands hold the carton over the scanner, and they comment, “Woah- $4.99. More than yesterday.”

In the top right panel, Sebastian is facing the customer, who has short dark hair and a collared shirt. The customer remarks, “Wow, egg prices are so high…” Sebastian replies, “Yep.”

In the upper right panel, the customer smiles and exclaims, “Must be something!” Sebastian is wearing a mask, but their eyes look a bit surprised. They look at the customer and go, “What?”

In the center left panel with arms crossed and a bright smile, the customer says, ‘There must be some kind of “egg-related issue’ that I just don’t know about!”

The center middle panel zooms on Sebastian’s weary face with top text and bottom text that reads “Egg-related… Issue…”

The center right panel is divided into three triangular vignettes of masked customers. Superimposed over the top and bottom of the panel, the text trails off saying, “Egg… related…”

The bottom panel is cluttered with egg related conspiracies. With a dead look, Sebastian responds to the customer, “Yeah… Who knows?” Images of media organizations, the covid virus, catastrophic news headlines, and graphs bounce around the panel.
