Dialogue and Transcription
In this 8-panel comic part of the series Socialist Grocery by Oli Knowles, Sebastian begins with the confession in Panel 1, “I went to Sephora for the first time last week to get my sister a christmas gift. It was a hellscape. Panel 2, Depics Sebastion overwhelmed by style-conscious people and a foreign world. The other shoppers, “L’Oreal Paris? Throwback. It’s 70% off.” Another shopper, “…Urban Decay Eye cream…” A shopper notices, “Lime cream? They have lime cream?” Out of view gives us, “Don’t just get one sponge.” Panel 3, Sebastian is thinking, “Do they work here? No that’s assumptive of me. They just have a cool outfit and glowing skin.” Panel 4, A worker approaches, “Can I help you find something?” Sebastian at a loss, “OH!!” Panel 5 Sebastian answers, “I’m looking for face wash. It’s a Christmas present.” The salesperson,”Oh sure! What brand?” Sebastian out of their depths, “I don’t know a single brand.” Panel 6, the salesperson offers, “Well this one’s my Fav – ” and Sebastian quickly responds, “Thank You!” Panel 7, Sebastian now at the register is met with, “Are you ready to check out?” Sebastian, “Please help me I’ve never been to Sephora before.” Panel 8. Checkout clerk, “Your card got declined.” Sebastian in need of a rescue, “Please help me I’ve never been to Sephora before.”
