Socialist Grocery – Dialogue and Transcription
August 2024 – 7-panel comic, part of the series Socialist Grocery by Oli Knowles. Panel 1: The co-workers are having a meeting talking about the latest display panel in the store. One suggests, “Okay, I have a great idea for the new display. The signs will look like the new Charlie XCX albums…” Another responds, “…But we’ll just sell soda and like…crackers…” Panel 2: Panel shows a display. “Brat: brat and it’s the same but there’s three more songs so it it’s not.” Panel 3: Sebastian is writing “Soda” on a new display. Panel 4: The new display reads “SODA: oyster carckersand they’re the same but with less sodium so they’re not.” Panel 5: Two co-workers are talking one says, “I feel like Charli will see this it’ll end up on the internet.” The other adds, “And if she ever came to the store, I’d have to shoot my shot.” Panel 6: Sebastian enters and office, there’s a voice out of view, “Sebastian, thanks for coming. Management just wants to a word with you.” Panel 7: Sebastian sits. One of the managers starts, “We’re expecting a cease and desist any day. But from her? Could be epic.” The other manager wonders, “is it like…supposed to be a haiku?”
