Thanks to everyone who contributed in any way whatsoever to the effort to push back the Pennsylvania legislature plan to slap an 8 percent sales tax on art events. The protests worked!!! As unlikely as it may seem, the little arts community was able to organize itself, with the help of the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance, into enough of a squeaky wheel to overcome the visigoths of Harrisburg. Here’s Philadelphia’s Chief Cultural Officer Gary Steuer’s post on the victory for art (yes, he has started his own blog!!!)!!!
