If you really want to know what came first, the chicken or the egg or the Wing Bowl, check out this video of a performance from opening night Saturday at Baltidelphia, the exhibit at My House by artists from Baltimore and Philadelphia.
The egg is Andrew Brehm, representing Philly (he got a dispensation even though he has moved on to grad school in Richmond). The warbler is Freda Mohr, representing Baltimore. And they got some help from Sarah O’Donnell, who plays the bird, and from Philly cinematographer Jonathan Boal. The setup is slow, folky and hokey, but then the fun begins. A beefed up version of the performance will debut in Baltimore Saturday, Feb. 6, at Hexagon Space, for the closing party. Two cities, two galleries, two shows, teams of two artists each, one artist from each city. This tale of two cities involves 44 artists (22 per city) working over a three-month period. The show is curated by Hexagon’s Phuong Pham (she’s also got a Philly connection) and My House’s Alex Gartelmann. Philly artists involved include Artblog’s behind-the-scenes wizard Beth Heinly!
