That: Allora & Calzadille picked for Biennale
Two collaborating artists with a political edge, Philadelphia native Jennifer Allora and Cuban native Guillermo Calzadilla, will represent the U.S. at the 45th Venice Biennale June 4 to Nov. 27, 2011. Selected by the Indianapolis Museum of art, the Puerto Rico-based artists will send six new works to the exhibit. The press release also mentions that the team also have been shortlisted for London’s 2011 Fourth Plinth commission.
The two showed in Philadelphia at Temple Gallery in the wonderful Empathetic exhibit in 2006.
