More great art at the PHL Airport, summer travelers! See Artblog favorite Trudy Kraft’s mesmerizing “Diatoms,” in Terminal C (ticketed passengers). If you’re traveling and in Terminal C be sure to stop by her installation at Gate 28. Kraft’s works on paper are made by a meditative and laborious process of adding and subtracting color and design. Leah Douglas is the fantastic curator of this Philly-centric art program. Bravo to Leah!
By now you’ve probably heard of the Andrew Wyeth Retrospective at the Brandywine River Museum in honor of the centenary of the esteemed local artist’s birth. More than 100 works in the exhibition, and — the artist was prolific — there’s a related show in Wilmington with another big selection of works at Somerville Manning Gallery. The latter exhibition has original art works, for sale, by the way.
The museum exhibit is on view until Sept. 17, 2017. But the gallery show at Somerville Manning closes July 29, 2017, so to see both, visit in July.
I wrote about another Andrew Wyeth retrospective, one that took place at the Philadelphia Museum of Art in 2006, before the artist died. Here’s my review of what I consider beautiful, but dark and morbid work.
