Peggy Guggenheim, Art Addict – A movie review

What stands out are the photos of Peggy — with her artists, with their art, in her galleries and her museum. And what makes this biographical film really special, like I said at the top, is the smart, sassy commentary of the woman, her voice strong, even at age 80, giving the hint of the incredible drive of her personality.

I love that it highlights their abilities rather than disabilities. We’re planning to expand the program to include children in 2016.

Wrath of the Gods: From scholarly to vernacular at the Philadelphia Museum of Art

The art historical exhibit pivots around one of the PMA’s blockbuster items, Peter Paul Rubens’ “Prometheus Bound,” a tour-de-force figure painting of the big-muscled god being killed by an eagle in a particularly gruesome fashion. It’s a large painting both beautiful and terrifying, a scene of torture that accentuates the vulnerability of flesh.
