PAFA’s new Curator of the John Rhoden Collection comes on board April 24 to help PAFA promote the career of the under-known African American artist. Teachers Action Group is 9 years old and invites you to their conference, to help effect change in the schools and community. Also, Share the Spotlight offers tuition-free summer music camp for aspiring teen musicians.

Amy Sherald’s critique of American art, visiting artist lecture at Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts

As the first of the March, 2018, Noreasters hit Philadelphia, Roberta and another hundred or more souls crammed the PAFA auditorium to hear artist Amy Sherald talk about her life, her art and, of course, painting the portrait of former First Lady Michelle Obama, which debuted at the National Portrait Gallery in Washington earlier in the year.

Two for You! Artblog launches an advice column in April! “Ask Dave” debuts with advice for graduating seniors in the arts; Plus, don’t miss University of the Arts’s two BIG public art projects on South Broad Street, with work by Deborah Willis and by 46 photographers from the UArts community!

Introducing a new Artblog feature – an Advice Column! “Ask Dave” debuts at the end of April with answers to questions about careers in the arts. Also, some photos of photo murals on South Broad Street that should make you slow down and contemplate. A great couple of University of the Arts photo projects!

Congratulations Jennifer Martin, new Executive Director at The Clay Studio, and Virginia Maksymowicz, with a solo show at Franklin and Marshall college, Plus, Ulises opens Publishing as Practice residency focused on three experimental publishers, and a remarkable Opportunity for social practice art at the site of the 1985 bombing of the MOVE house in Cobbs Creek

We congratulate Ulises for their new publishers in residency project, and celebrate the Clay Studio’s new Executive Director (plus get a look at the plan for their new building in South Kensington!). Virginia Maksymowicz, an Artblog contributor and favorite has a solo exhibit at Franklin and Marshall College; plus the Philadelphia Redevelopment Authority (PRA) announces a surprising call – for a social practice project in Cobbs Creek.
